专利说明:

[001] The present invention relates to a ventilation element for a compartment containing an electrical, mechanical, electromechanical or similar device, according to the preamble of the main claim.
[002] The use of elements for ventilation of compartments in the automobile industry or vehicles in general is already well known and widespread; these ventilation elements, for example, are associated with openings in compartments of electrical or electronic components (such as optical units or headlights for motor vehicles) or mechanical parts (gearboxes, hydraulic transmission components, opening systems) windows or windshield wiper units, for example), where the pressure must be equalized between the interior of these compartments and the external environment. An element of this type referred to is usable in all components, not necessarily in the automobile industry, where there is a said need for pressure compensation / equalization (for example, in electrical control panels, public lighting systems, containers or cans of chemical products. ).
[003] These ventilation elements are also known to have a shape that limits the entry of water into said containers or compartments, such as water from rain or puddles, or when washing the vehicle or the motor. For example, a ventilation element is known from EP 1102002, comprising a cylindrical cover member closed at one end and open at the opposite end, into which a substantially cylindrical body is inserted. An air passage is formed between the inner wall of said member and the outer wall of the inner body, and between the lower surface of the member and the lower end of said body. A plurality of projections are positioned at predetermined intervals along the periphery of the inner body; when said body is not coupled to the cover member, its outer diameter (including the projections) is greater than the diameter of the member, whereas when the body is inserted in the member, its projections come into contact with the internal wall of the said member, so that the body is positioned and fixed on the latter to create the air passage between the projections.
[004] A hydrophobic membrane can be associated with the internal body, at that end of said body, internal to said covering member.
[005] In the aforementioned known solution, the ventilation function of the element, which is the object of the patent, and the connection function between the covering element and the inner body, are both achieved by the projections of the inner body, which keeps it away from the wall of the cover element. This involves the need for a specific and careful design of the internal body, to ensure proper ventilation of the compartment. In addition, as the internal body is not very rigid, it can deform with insertion or during the passage of time ("relaxation"), thus modifying the cross sections of the air passages, thus modifying the ventilation of the compartment to which the ventilation element is associated.
[006] Additionally, the internal body can come into contact with foreign elements that can penetrate through the open end of the protection member, thus suffering damage.
[007] In addition, in the known solution, the internal body, made of elastic material, protrudes from the cover member, and is connected to the compartment. This requires a careful design of the ventilation element, in order to obtain correct conformation of said body and member, to obtain a correct and reliable sealed connection with the related compartment. Furthermore, after coupling the body of elastic material with the compartment, it is very difficult to separate them when the ventilation element needs to be removed.
[008] Furthermore, the aforementioned known solution (and other equivalents known in the technical field) has a large portion of rubber (internal body), which involves a considerable cost for the finished product and long manufacturing times related to molding of the inner body.
[009] An objective of the present invention is to provide a ventilation element for a compartment containing electrical equipment, such as a compartment used in the automotive area, an optical unit (or lighting system in general), or a compartment for a circuit electrical control of a vehicle, or other compartment of the type mentioned above, representing an improvement over similar elements already known.
[010] A particular object of the invention is to provide a ventilation element of the aforementioned type, which can be produced relatively quickly at a low cost, in comparison with similar known ventilation elements.
[011] Another objective is to provide a ventilation element of the aforementioned type, presenting an excellent ventilation of the compartment to which it is associated, in any condition in which the latter is used, maintaining this excellent ventilation over time. A particular objective is to provide a ventilation element of the indicated type, in which the flow of air ventilation can be optimized through the appropriate dimensioning of its parts, where the ventilation function can be separated from the "mechanical" function of these parts.
[012] Another objective is to provide a ventilation element of the type indicated, whose shape remains stable over time.
[013] These and other objectives evident to the person skilled in the art are achieved by a ventilation element in accordance with the appended claims. The present invention will be better understood from the accompanying drawings, provided by way of non-limiting example, in which: Figure 1 is an exploded view of a first embodiment of a ventilation element according to the invention; Figure 2 is a view of the element of figure 1, from above; Figure 3 is a cross section on line 3 - 3 of figure 2; Figure 4 is a perspective view of a component of the element of figure 1; Figure 5 is an exploded view of a second embodiment of a ventilation element according to the invention; Figure 6 is a view of the element of figure 5, from above; Figure 7 is a cross section on line 7 - 7 of figure 6; Figure 8 is a perspective view of a component of the element of figure 5; and Figure 9 is a cross-section through a variant of the invention.
[014] With reference to figures 1 to 4, they illustrate a ventilation element comprising a rigid body 2, made of plastic or sintered material, having a cylindrical part 3 closed at a first end 4 by a closing part 5, and opened at a second end 7. Part 5 is preferably integrated with cylindrical part 3.
[015] An internal cylindrical portion 10 projects from an internal side 8 (in relation to the body 2) of said part 5, with which it is integrated, and extends to the second end 7 of the body 2. This inner portion 10 therefore forms a part of the body 2, that is, it is integrated with it.
[016] The inner portion 10 is coaxial with the cylindrical part or outer wall 3 of the body 2, with an intermediate recess or space 12 between them. The portion 10 and said wall 3 are connected to each other by ribs 11K, which reinforce the body 2 and prevent deformation over time due to thermal cycles, vibrations or atmospheric agents.
[017] As will be described, this recess 12 of the body 2 is in communication with a compartment 13, present between the closing part 5 and a first end 14 of a cylindrical member 15 inserted coaxially in the inner cylindrical portion 10 of the body 2, and maintained inside the latter by interference with said portion. Said member 15 is made of an elastic material, such as natural rubber, synthetic or other equivalent material, and comprises a second end 17 projecting from the body 2. The first end 14 of the member 15 is located in a position corresponding to, however spaced from, the closing part 5 of the body 2, with said compartment 13 being formed, consequently, between this part and said end. To guarantee the spaced positioning between the member 15 and said closing part 5, projections 21 project from the inner side 8 of the latter, on which the first end 14 of the member 15 is supported. The shoulders 21 have a curved shape and are in contact with the member 15 inside the cylindrical portion 10 of the body 2.
[018] As described, the intermediate or recessed space 12 communicates with the compartment 13 through grooves 22 provided in said portion 10, advantageously in front of the shoulders 21. These grooves preferably have straight edges, and cooperate with the cylindrical member 15, contributing to keep this member coupled to the portion 10. This is particularly due to an additional deformation of the member 15, when connected to the compartment in which the element 1 is mounted. This connection is achieved by mounting the member 15 on a male member of said compartment; this causes that deformation, in addition to the impulse that the member 15 generates on the portion 10 in the assembly of the element 1, makes said member cooperate, with strict adherence, with the grooves 22 to lock it, therefore, inside the body hard 2.
[019] This fact means that, during the separation of the element 1 from the said compartment, the member 15 reliably detaches from the latter, since it essentially forms a single piece with the rigid body 2.
[020] At the first end 14, the member 15 supports a membrane 25 of known hydrophobic material, while at the second end 17 of that member the element 1 is coupled to the compartment that is to be ventilated. The membrane 25 can be flat or have a different shape, with its surface being continuous or presenting a succession of elevations and depressions, for example, as a concave surface (for example, conical, with the apex facing side 8), or convex. As shown in figure 9, a variant of the invention is shown which has a conical membrane 25. In this variant, the closing part 5 can be flat, as seen in the previous figures, or have a shape that follows the profile of the membrane, as shown in the figure. shown in figure 9.
[021] For ventilation, the air in the compartment to which element 1 is associated passes through the conduit 30 of the tubular member 15, passes through the membrane 25, and from there it proceeds into the compartment 13. The air passes through the groove 22 in the intermediate space 12, and emerges from the body 2 through its second end 7. Due to the fact that the recess or intermediate space 12 is defined by two rigid portions (the wall 3 and the portion 10), it is not deformable, and ensures a constant flow of ventilation air. This allows the ventilation air flow rate to be optimized through the appropriate dimensioning of the intermediate space 12 of the body 2 and of the grooves 22, with the said flow rate therefore not depending on components of variable dimensions such as, this is the case, for example, of known solutions, in which ventilation occurs between a rigid body and an elastic body, such as rubber. In the case of the present invention, as the flow always occurs between rigid parts (the wall 3 and the portion 10), it can be calculated accurately and be guaranteed by an adequate design of the rigid body 2.
[022] Furthermore, this ventilation is carried out precisely and only through the body 2, with the member 15 being used only to support the membrane 25 and to fix the element 1 to the compartment to be ventilated. The member 15 that supports the membrane 25 is, moreover, well protected by the body 2 and by its two coaxial parts, the wall 3 and the portion 10. This protection must be considered valid both against impacts to which the member 15 could be subjected, as against external agents, such as variations in air temperature around element 1, which could worsen the performance of said element over time, limiting its deformation or "relaxation".
[023] In addition, element 1 makes little use of elastic material components, which cost more than rigid components, such as made of plastic. The cost is lower and the manufacturing times are shorter than in the known solutions.
[024] In addition, the shapes of the body 2 with the cylindrical portion 10, and the member 15 also cylindrical, facilitate its manipulation during the assembly of the element 1, achieved by automatic machines. This is because of the simplicity of the geometric shape of said body 2 and the member 15, which are easy to handle and couple.
[025] Finally, member 25 is inserted in portion 10 and is in contact with the entire surface of the latter. This maximizes the sealing of the assembly over time, without projections and without the need for other coupling members in said portion and / or said member.
[026] In figures 5 to 8, where the parts corresponding to those of the figures already described are indicated by the same reference numbers, the element 1 comprises openings 40 provided close to, or in, the closing part 5 of the body 2.
[027] These openings 40 are through openings that communicate with compartment 13; within the latter, the shoulders 21 on which the member 15 rests are present in front of the said openings. The function of these projections, as well as in the form of incorporation of figures 1 to 4 (but with greater emphasis on the present form of incorporation being described), is to disperse inside the compartment 13 any drops of water that pass through the openings 40 (or the grooves 22, in the form of incorporation previously described) and avoid its impact against the membrane 25 associated with the member 15 close to the closure part 5.
[028] The cylindrical portion 10 protrudes from said part 5, however, in contrast to the embodiment of figures 1 to 4, it does not extend as far as the second end 7 of the body 2, and ends within the latter. The extension of said portion 10, however, is such that it engages by interference with the member 15 in order to retain it fixed to the body 2. To improve this retention, shoulders or pillars 43 extend from the portion 10, integrated with said portion and with the wall 3 of the body 2, having a free wall 44 that cooperates by interference with the member 15, contributing to retain the latter in the body 2.
[029] In the form of incorporation of figures 5 to 8, the ventilation of the compartment to which the element 1 is connected occurs through a flow that passes through the member 15, passes through the compartment 13 and leaves the body 2 through the openings 40.
[030] The solution described above also has at least part of the advantages already mentioned with reference to the form of incorporation of figures 1 to 4.
[031] Various forms of incorporation of the invention have been described. Others are available, however, in the light of the previous description, and should be considered to be within the scope of the following claims.
